Good Afternoon!
This week we will be meeting Tomorrow, Wednesday October 9th, 6-7:30 in Bartlett 1017!
The current dates are Wed Oct 9th, Fri Oct 18, and Wed Oct 23. The last meeting of October will be the Spooky Scary Slam so be on the look out for updates about time and location as well as rules and regs!
There is also a meeting for clubs in orgs in the Panther Den at 1pm Today Tuesday the 8th for anyone wanting to come and discuss future plans!
As mentioned in the last newsletter and to refresh our minds: Last year we had an event called the “Spooky Scary Slam”, which was a Halloween themed poetry slam. We had judges, catered food, prizes, and everyone arrived in costume. We will be doing this event again the last week of October, date to be determined. We will have opportunities to write, practice, and get started on planning this years slam, as well as deciding what food to cater. If you have any ideas for food please let us know!
We will also be starting our requests for in-kind donations, usually gift cards or coupons from local businesses and organizations! These businesses will be our “sponsors” for the event and receive special recognition during the event. Please let us know if you know any businesses that may be interested as we’ll also be going over the script and process for asking/picking up donations.
We will be setting up a time to table in the union closer to the event, to spread word of the slam and recruit participants and attendees, so let us know if you’d be able to help with something like that!
An opportunity to compete and witness a slam poetry event!
